    duties and responsibilities: Orthotics and Prosthetics is the evaluation, fabrication and custom fitting of artificial limbs and orthopedic braces.Prosthetists specialize in designing and making artificial limbs, while Orthotists specialize in designing and fitting orthopedic braces such as surgical supports and corrective shoes. These professions are similar and an individual may be both an orthotist and a prosthetist.

    education: A degree from an accredited school in the appropriate healthcare training is usually a requirement prior to applying for any healthcare license. Some healthcare professions must pass an exam to validate the required knowledge and competency levels.

    duties and responsibilities:After receiving orders from optometrists and opticians, optical lab technicians cut polish and grind lenses for prescription classes or create prescription contact lenses. In some cases, an optical lab technician may create lenses for products like binoculars, microscopes, and telescopes. This position relies on computer equipment and automated tools to make the lenses. The final product is always examined by an optical lab technician before it is sent off to the customer

    educational requirements: According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics , state license is not required of optical lab technicians . Optical lab technicians must possess a good eye for detail due to the complexity of the work. Manual dexterity is required for finer detail work. Due to the automated systems used by optical lab technicians, having excellent computer skills is needed to succeed in this field.

Since ophthalmologists perform operations on eyes, they are both surgical and medical specialists.

    educational requirements:Ophthalmologists are physicians who have completed a college degree, medical school, and residency in ophthalmology. In many countries, ophthalmologists also undergo additional specialized training in one of the many sub-specialties. Ophthalmology was the first branch of medicine to offer board certification, now a standard practice among all specialties.

    operating room technician


    duties and responsibilities;Operating room technicians are also called surgical technicians or surgical technologists.  They assist in preparing operating rooms for surgery.  They are responsible for having surgical instruments, sterile bandages and linens, needed fluids, and other equipment ready for the operation.  They may also assist doctors by handing them needed instruments during surgery and for counting sponges and needles before and after the operation.  They deliver specimens to hospital laboratories for analysis, and after operations they take patients to the recovery room.
